Garden Workshop: Intro to Seed Starting

March 30 | 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

This course is all about seeds! We will cover all the basics of seed-starting for a vegetable garden including what is best to direct sow vs. starting, the fundamentals of lighting and soil mixes, and how to make sure your seedlings are strong enough to transplant. Each participant will bring their own seed tray home.

Our Garden Workshops are designed to be accessible to all curious New Yorkers and provide a hands-on, informative look into the world of gardening. Seasonal topics will engage and inspire the first-time-growers and the seasoned greenthumbs. Each class is led by one of the Horticultural Society of New York’s gardeners, practitioners, or horticulturists.

Please arrive 5-10 minutes early to class as we start right on time.

Special Note: The class is located in the greenhouse and classroom at Denny Farrell Riverbank State Park. You may register online or in person.

The Hort is proudly supported by The Burpee Foundation
