Visit the Denny Farrell Greenhouse and Education Center at Riverbank State Park and enjoy our learning garden and free programs.

No experience or supplies necessary. We will provide all that you need. Just come.

The Denny Farrell Greenhouse and Education Center is the collective backyard of Harlem that welcomes everyone with an early curiosity to the deepest passion for gardening. Anyone from the community can enjoy public programs and classes for free. 

If you are a local High School student interested in working as an intern through Horticulture Operations Resident Training at the Greenhouse (HORTGreenhouse) please email a statement of interest (no more than a paragraph) to programs@thehort.org with the subject “HORTGreenhouse Applicant”.

We offer a wide array of free seasonal classes and workshops that are taught at the Greenhouse and Education Center throughout the year. Classes include:  

  • Family Gardening 
  • Cooking Classes  
  • Artmaking 
  • Specialty Gardening Workshops and Talks  
  • Community Celebrations

The Greenhouse and Education Center is open seven days a week all year*.

Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Thursday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
