Join Council Member Erik Bottcher and The Horticultural Society of New York (The Hort) in our mission to “Green the In-Between” by planting trees in Council District 3! Your generous donations to the “Green the In-Between” Council District 3 Street Tree fund will help fund the planting of trees in eligible vacant pits throughout the district.
Recognizing the crucial role of street trees in our urban landscape, The Hort is proud to partner with Council Member Erik Bottcher to enrich the tree canopy in Council District 3. Every contribution to the “Green the In-Between” Council District 3 Street Tree fund directly supports the planting of new trees within our community.
Leveraging our expertise and dedicated field staff, we are ready to enhance the tree canopy in the heart of midtown. While our initial focus is on Council District 3, our vision extends to broader initiatives aimed at increasing green spaces across New York City.
The Hort is subject to NYC Parks Department guidelines of tree planting. Donors can express preference for specific neighborhoods, and though we will try our best, we cannot guarantee specific locations or addresses.

All trees planted through the “Green the In-Between” District 3 Tree Fund will meet approved NYC Parks Department guidelines and will be appropriate for site conditions. The “Green the In-Between” Council District 3 Street Tree fund will prioritize sites that are not covered by existing NYC Parks Department planting plans. Newly planted trees will be watered by The Hort weekly for the first year after planting.
In addition, as part of our efforts, we will facilitate the full process of planting street trees in accordance with NYC Parks Department permitting process. It is our priority to see the trees we plant thrive!
