Therapeutic Gardens

We partner with supportive housing communities and rehabilitation cooperatives to design, build, and maintain therapeutic gardens. The gardens serve as a key component in individual treatment plans and play an essential role in the healing process.

We partner with supportive housing communities and rehabilitation cooperatives to design, build, and maintain therapeutic gardens. The gardens serve as a key component in individual treatment plans and play an essential role in the healing process.

We design each therapeutic garden to meet the spiritual, physical, and psychological needs of the people using the garden. Aesthetically pleasing and sustainably grown, the gardens help lower blood pressure, reduce stress, and encourage better sleep. Regardless if the garden serves occupational, physical, or horticultural therapy programs, the goal is the same: healing.
At each site, Hort staff collaborate with caregivers and facility managers to develop and offer experiential workshops. Lessons teach individuals about plant origins and anatomy, how to cook organic meals, and create useful household products. Using the crop, seed, and soil, they cultivate a wide variety of annuals, perennials, vegetables, and herbs.
