NYdigs operates out of the educational greenhouse and kitchen garden at Denny Farrell Riverbank State Park and other locations throughout the city. We host programs, conferences, and special events: from the art of making soap to the benefits of cooking with fresh vegetables, to our Urban Agriculture Conference. Programs and events are rooted in the Hort’s mission: cultivating the vital connection between people and plants.

Our NYdigs program offers virtual lessons and tours for school groups on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from the greenhouse and kitchen garden. Small groups may contact us at education@thehort.org about attending in person.

Visiting the greenhouse and kitchen garden at Denny Farrell Riverbank State Park is a great way to introduce the wonders of the natural world to your students. The park, greenhouse, and garden are filled with hands-on experiences that will inspire young minds.  We now offer the opportunity for your group to experience this virtually, through our online workshops and programs.

Workshops for school groups are one hour in length, and provide plant-based investigations. Lessons have been adapted to New York State Department of Education Core Curriculum Standards & Expectations.  Our educators can customize the workshops for your grade level and subject area.  If you would like to request a date and time you do not see available online, or are interested in visiting in person with a group of 6 children or less, please contact us at education@thehort.org or 917-902-3940.
